BMFrom 24 to 26 July 2026, Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur is transformed into a sea of colour, music and dance as Citrawarna 2026 returns for its latest edition. Held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 and carrying the theme “The Rhythm. The Soul. The Nation,” the festival is one of the country’s most anticipated cultural showcases, with free admission and an estimated 50,000 visitors expected daily.
Organised around four signature experiences — Colours of Culture, Colours of Art, Colours of Flavour, and the much-anticipated Colours of Parade on 25 July — Citrawarna brings together performers, artisans and communities from across Malaysia’s many ethnic groups. Traditional dances, handicraft demonstrations and heritage cuisine sit side by side, offering locals and international visitors alike a vivid picture of what makes Malaysia truly multicultural.
For the Malaysia-China Culture and Education Association (MCCEA), festivals like Citrawarna are a reminder of why cultural exchange matters. Malaysia’s Chinese community, one of the country’s largest ethnic groups, has long contributed its own traditions, arts and culinary heritage to the national tapestry, and events of this scale give that heritage a visible place alongside Malay, Indian and indigenous cultures on a shared national stage. This kind of open, mutual celebration of 马中文化 is precisely the spirit MCCEA seeks to nurture between Malaysia and China — not through separation, but through shared participation in each other’s cultural life.
